AI Image Policy
Many images on this site are AI design concepts: a real photo of a yard, redesigned with generative AI so you can see an idea before you build it. We want it to be obvious which images those are.
How you can tell
- Every AI image carries a purple AI concept badge and a caption: "AI concept based on [owner]'s original photo. Not a built project."
- In before/after sliders, the left side is the real photo and the right side is the AI concept.
- Real photos are marked Original photo or Licensed photo with credit.
- AI image files include embedded IPTC metadata (
DigitalSourceType:compositeSyntheticfor edited photos, trainedAlgorithmicMediafor fully generated images), so platforms like Google and Pinterest can identify them too.
How concepts are made
- Start from a real photo that we own, that is properly licensed, or that a reader submitted with written permission.
- Design first. The designer decides the layout, dimensions, materials and lighting. AI is used to visualize that decision, not to invent it.
- Keep geometry honest. We use structure-preserving techniques so the house, slope and boundaries stay where they really are.
- Review and annotate. Every concept is checked by the designer and paired with written reasoning: sizes, materials, light levels and caveats.
Limits of AI concepts
- AI images can misrepresent scale, plant size at maturity, drainage, structure and cost. Treat them as a mood and layout sketch, not construction drawings.
- Check local codes, HOA rules, utility locations (call 811 in the U.S. before digging) and get a licensed professional for structural, electrical or gas work.
Privacy for submitted photos
We remove location metadata and blur house numbers, faces and license plates. You can ask for removal at any time via Contact.
What we never do
- Present an AI image as a real, built project.
- Use someone else's photo (from Pinterest, Houzz, search results or another site) as the basis for an AI concept without permission.
- Generate images of identifiable real people.
